New Kaltura solution simplifies social video for enterprise

Online video platform Kaltura has rolled out a product aimed at the booming trend of social enterprise tools.

Kaltura's new Social Enterprise Video Solutions enables companies to use advanced video and rich media capabilities for collaboration and knowledge sharing among employees, partners and customers.

The move helps it tap into what is becoming a growing market in business: using video to share knowledge and collaborate among employees.

According to Gartner, large companies are expected to stream an average of 16 hours of video a month to employees.

"Video is rapidly becoming the most effective tool for knowledge sharing and collaboration in enterprises," said Ron Yekutiel, chairman and CEO of Kaltura. "Similar to the successful introduction of Facebook and Twitter-like consumer functionalities into the enterprise world, Kaltura provides corporations with advanced YouTube-like functionalities that had been previously perfected through millions of viewers of leading media companies such as ABC, HBO, Paramount and Warner Bros."

Kaltura said employees using its Social Enterprise Suite could create, author, share and search video content. Managers and administrators, then, can administer and moderate this content.

Kaltura said Best Buy, Coldwell Banker, Texas Instruments and Siemens already use the suite.
