Norway's Vyke hits 1 million VoIP subs

Tools

Norway's Vyke Communications says it's exceeded the 1 million mark for paid VoIP users. Downloads of its IP voice software doubled over the first six months of this year, the company said. Vyke attributed much of the growth to users in Asia and the Middle East, where long distance charges are substantial.
Vyke last week confirmed it signed a letter of intent to acquire a U.S. VoIP provider it described as having more than 50 international points of presence, delivering around 25 million minutes of VoIP traffic per month with an estimated capacity for 60 million. The name of the company has not been disclosed.
Vyke is listed on Alternative Investment Market segment of the London stock exchange, where it's share price has more than quintupled in the last six months. Vyke offers a variety of VoIP software apps, including one for mobile communications, as well as enterprise platforms. The combination appears to be working.
