PBX market hangs on

Gee, now that we've been through several waves of market consolidation and  Microsoft has  released OCS, we can say goodbye to the classic IP PBX, right? Tales of the markets demise may be exaggerated. IP PBX systems keep getting better, and companies like 3Com don't seem to have gotten the news that the market is finished.

Even though Avaya and 3Com have each gone through mergers, neither seems eager to abandon the IP PBX market. Open-source software publishers and integrators, as well, are continuing to develop and market new solutions for enterprise VoIP. The real news? There are more options than ever for organizations of all sizes that want to deploy VoIP. It is, as they say, a good thing.
