Polycom announces entry-level telepresence system
Polycom recently announced an entry-level telepresence solution that will retail for $5,999, according to the company. The HDX 6000 room telepresence system offers HD-quality conferencing with HD video, voice and content sharing capabilities for a cost-effective way to cut travel costs while maintaining collaboration and connectivity.
Polycom is marketing the HDX 6000 as a way for companies to improve collaboration and reduce operating costs, which, analyst firm Nemertes Research said, are key concerns for this market.
"Nemertes Research continues to see growing interest in video conferencing to reduce travel and improve the ability of distributed workers to effectively collaborate," Irwin Lazar, vice president communications research for Nemertes, said in a release. "Forty-eight percent of research participants now have policies to promote the use of video conferencing."
The HDX 6000 will be available July 1 worldwide through Polycom's channel partners.
