Polycom offers cloud-hosted video management through Microsoft Windows Azure

With all the video conferencing and calling going on, what can companies do to capture video so important that information from the video interaction isn't lost? Polycom and Microsoft might have the answer. Polycom has just announced a new video asset management solution powered by Microsoft's cloud services platform.

The Polycom Accordent Media Services, powered by Microsoft Windows Azure cloud service, will allow companies to set up a single, secure, searchable video content management system for their video assets. The system can manage anything from major meeting videos to calls between desk phone users. With the new system storing video in the cloud, no data from important video interactions will be lost. Deploying a cloud-based system means minimum capital expenditure for companies with no need for networking or storage.

Polycom recently acquired Accordent Technologies--adding video content management and delivery technologies to its portfolio. The Accordent platform offers capture solutions for all major video use cases including live webcasts from the studio, providing automated rich media webcasting from the meeting or classroom, adding a streaming extension to video conferences, or enabling user-generated content from the desktop.
