Polycom puts video conferencing in Lotus Sametime

Tools

There are as many ways to do unified communications as there are offices to employ them. So, it's good to be able to integrate your products with other products that customers might like to use. This week Polycom has announced that it has integrated its video conferencing solution with IBM's Lotus Sametime.

The solution will extend features in Sametime like instant messaging, presence and click-to-call to include room and desktop video conferences that run on Polycom hardware. The companies are looking for ways to release this software integration over the cloud in the future and while they currently do not support integration with mobile devices for video conferencing, it is something they are looking into.

Offices running Sametime and Polycom hardware just need a software upgrade to complete the integration at no cost.
