Rebtel eyes more financing
Skype's pending acquisition by Microsoft has once again put a spotlight on the VoIP space as a whole. For a while there, Skype and Vonage seemed to dominate the sector, with few other companies getting credit for their innovations. But, the pending $8.5 billion deal for Skype may send industry watchers delving deeper to look at some of the prominent players and their potential.
One such company is Rebtel, which is focusing largely on the increasingly active area of mobile VoIP. In an interview with TechCrunch this week, Rebtel's CEO may surprise no one in saying that the company, which is profitable, may be looking to raise more financing, possibly even through an IPO, the route Skype was planning to take before Microsoft stepped in.
