Red Hat to offer telcos open source building blocks

Tools

Moving deeper into the telecom market, Red Hat has acquired Mobicents, an open source VoIP middleware platform and open source Java Service Logic Execution Environment (JSLEE). The company also has joined the SCOPE Alliance, which is dedicated to building carrier-grade platforms. Red Hat says open source software, platforms and tools are a must for telcos looking to thrive in the increasingly competitive and innovative landscape that is evolving around them. The announcement of the deal says the addition of Mobicents will provide Red Hat's telco customers with the foundation for the first open source communications and service delivery platform for next generation services such as VoIP, IMS, and IPTV.
