Report: 58 million IMS households by 2010

Tools

The Ireland-based consulting company Research and Markets has a new report about IMS, in which it predicts that 58 million households will be supported by the "standard" by 2010--about half of them in fixed-mobile convergence services. Among the things that makes Research and Markets so bullish on IMS is its timing; IMS comes along exactly as IT managers are looking at upgrading their networks anyway. Even though implementing IMS is tricky and expensive, the report finds that it's the best way for carriers to migrate customers from legacy networks and services to IP networks and converged services.
