Report: Big call centers poised to go VoIP

Tools

While exciting, Washington state's system is probably swimming against history. The Yankee Group says that VoIP penetration in call centers is getting ready for another jump. in 2005, 17 percent of call centers used VoIP; by the end of 2007, Yankee estimates it will be more than 47 percent. In terms of seats, the figures are 16 percent in 2005 and more than 60 in 2007--which means that the big call centers (500 seats and up) are on the verge of rolling out VoIP solutions. And don't expect networking vendors to get that business; apparently, it's the traditional call center vendors who have gotten smart that are doing the deals.
