Report: Premises-based web-conferencing grew in 2009--driven by UC

Tools

Frost and Sullivan recently released a report on the growth of web conferencing and rise of on-premises-based software in the last few years.

Web conferencing is dominated by the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model with those offerings making up 81 percent of the revenue in the web-conferencing software market. The Frost and Sullivan report found promising results, though, for premises-based web conferencing software where revenues grew by 14.6 percent in 2009. The revenues hit $263 million globally in 2009. The growth was mainly due to more companies adopting unified communications (UC) tools. Premise-based web conferencing actually grew at a faster pace than SaaS web-conferencing for the first time in 2009.
