Report: Q4 was a good time for SBCs

Studies seem to be pointing to a strong finish for some parts of the VoIP sector in 2010. According to the latest report from Infonetics, Q4 2010 was a good time for the VoIP equipment market and in particular, the Session Border Controller (SBC) segment.

In its Service Provider VoIP Equipment and Subscribers market share and forecast report, Infonetics revealed that service provider VoIP equipment market rose to $592 million in Q4 2010. The increase was 14.5 percent over the third quarter.

SBCs saw revenue increase 42 percent over 2009 mainly do to fixed/mobile interconnectivity, the rise fo subscribers and SIP trunking. Sadly, the good news could make the overall 2010 a positive year as worldwide revenue dropped 6.7 percent to $2.21 billion.
