Report: UC sales up in Q3

Skeptics are looking at the economy's upward moves with a cautious eye, but the latest news in the unified communications (UC) industry gives us some things signs that we have things to look forward to.

Dell'Oro Group has released a report that the third quarter has seen the largest growth since 2008. The UC market grew seven percent in Q3. Anaylsts observed that Cisco, Avaya and Microsoft have all now launched new and powerful versions of their UC offerings, and we are set to see significant growth numbers in the UC market for 2010.

The hard growth numbers are great to see for our current industry, and it looks even more promising when we gaze ahead. According to eWeek, Forrester Research projects that the UC market will expand to $14.5 billion by 2015. A recent report from ABI Research showed that unified communications is expected to be a $4.8 billion market opportunity by 2015.
