Report: VoIP market prices are down but demand is up
Perhaps VoIP vendors were inspired by Black Friday door-busters, or maybe it's just a sign of the times. Infonetics has released its latest report giving us a bit of good news mixed in with a bit of bad.
The third-quarter Service Provider VoIP Equipment and Subscribers report states that prices in the VoIP market were down nine percent from Q2 to Q3 2010. The price drop, while dropping revenues for the quarter everywhere but Asia, has had some positive effects. Demand for VoIP products is now on the rise. Shipments of VoIP products are up across the board.
As noted above, every region was affected by the price drops but Asia and Infonetics points out the secret behind all this is China. China is driving the demand while also suppressing the prices of the VoIP market.
In other good news, Dell'Oro Group last week released a report that said the unified communications (UC) market grew seven percent in Q3.
