Report: Wholesale VoIP quality satisfaction is up
Seems like every report out recently has been a barer of both good and bad news. This week ATLANTIC-ACM released its 2010 Metro Carrier Report Card with a similar theme.
The study comprised 1,600 individual carrier ratings by their wholesale customers. On the positive side, satisfaction with VoIP quality improved versus any other wholesale telecom product, which is always nice to see. The bad news was that VoIP was the only telecom product that saw price competitiveness scores decline.
What does it all mean? Well customers were expecting prices to drop faster than they have. As we reported last week, prices in the VoIP market have been pushed down--particularly in the equipment sector where China is buying in bulk and requiring deals in the process. Buyers are acknowledging that VoIP quality has greatly improved, but they wouldn't mind getting the improved services at cheaper prices.
