Rumor Mill: More Facebook and Skype integration on the way

Video chat is all the rage these days and if Facebook wants to be the top communications platform for its users, it is still missing that one vital component. Last year, Skype and Facebook struck a deal where Skype users could voice call their Facebook friends from within the Skype 5.0 platform. The same integration did not occur on the Facebook site itself.

Now rumors are spreading that the two companies are in talks again to continue to integrate their platforms. Could Skype-based video chat be coming to Facebook? That seems to be the insinuation offered by a Bloomberg report that claims to have heard the news from two people familiar with the discussions between the two companies. Video chat would help both Skype and Facebook compete with other VoIP video calling services being offered by Apple and Google.
