Savvius OmniPeek 9.1 aims to accelerate time to resolution for network problems

The latest version of Savvius' OmniPeek was designed to make it easier for network administrators and engineers to get more intuitive data visualizations and work toward a faster time to resolution for network issues.

OmniPeek 9.1 is being billed as a major release with updates that make it more useful to network admins. The network performance management product is newly integrated with other Savvius products, including Capture Engine, the vendor's embedded software for all of its embedded appliances.

Capture Engine now directly supports the Compass, Savvius' network data visualization product that was designed to continuously analyze and display network information over time to help network admins investigate issues or optimize performance.

The integration between Compass and Capture Engine is the biggest update in version 9.1, but there are several other updates, including:

  • A RAID 6 option for data protection and failover.

  • Improved geolocation tagging and search functionality.

  • Improved security and access controls.

  • Non-admin user access.

  • And improved analytical and data storage performance.

"Networks today are the backbone of our data-intensive economy. They must maintain the highest levels of performance and stability to meet user expectations and ensure business success," said Jay Botelho, director of product management at Savvius, in a statement.

OmniPeek 9.1 will be generally available on Feb. 12.
