Schools take advantage of federal E-Rate program, upgrade to CallTower hosted UC
CallTower provides unified communications (UC) as a service and has found another great place to expand the power of UC--the education vertical market.
This week, CallTower announced that they had successfully deployed their On Demand UC service to the Santa Clara Unified School District in California. The service provides the schools with productivity enhancing features like UC calling and messaging, redundancy and 24/7 support services. The district's service upgrade also included a full unified messaging voicemail system. The UC deployment takes advantage of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager along with Cisco Unified IP Phones.
The school district found that hosted VoIP and UC solutions qualify for funding under the federal government's E-Rate program which provides discounted telecommunications, Internet access and internal connections to eligible schools and libraries to promote affordable access to modern telecommunications and information services. Prior to the upgrade, the schools had a legacy analog phone system that did not even have voicemail.
