Siemens brings on Chris Hummel as CMO to promote UC

Tools

Siemens Enterprise Communications has named Chris Hummel as its new Chief Marketing Officer. Joining Siemens from SAP AG (and before that Oracle), Hummel brings some serious enterprise and software marketing experience to the game. He is another asset in CEO Hamid Akhavan's plan to bring Siemens to the forefront of the software-based approach of IP communications.

"Siemens Enterprise Communications has long been advocating a software-based approach to voice, networking and unified communications, and Chris' deep software industry expertise, as well as his ability to translate technology messages into clear business value, will further assert our leadership position in the market," said Akhavan in a release.

For his part, Hummel mentioned in the release that he was excited to join Siemens and partake in the current critical market transformations like unified communications and cloud computing. Good thing too, because Siemens took home top marks at VoiceCon for their software-based UC offering OpenScape UC 2010.
