Tools

Siemens Enterprise Communications announced Wednesday an integrated unified communications platform it says will streamline the implementation of unified communication systems for businesses. Siemens said the OpenScape UC Application is compatible with almost any IT ecosystem, including Microsoft, IBM and Cisco products, according to the company.

"Unified communications can save companies money while helping them drive productivity and support the virtual workplace--all of which are critical in these difficult economic times," says Melanie Turek, industry principal, unified communications, at Frost & Sullivan. "But IT buyers are also looking for a simple way to purchase UC technology, with room to deliver complete UC applications to end users as needed."

Siemens said the OpenScape product integrates with with such applications as SAP Enterprise Portal, Oracle WebCenter Suite, IBM WebSphere, Microsoft SharePoint, Cisco WebEx, IBM Lotus SameTime, and Microsoft LiveMeeting. Siemens said the level of interoperability of its unified communications solution allows it to be integrated more predictably and less expensively.
