Sign of trouble?: Cisco touts this quarter's UC announcements ahead of earnings

Cisco, which reports its fiscal Q4 and fiscal year 2009 results Wednesday, is touting unified communications announcements it made this past quarter ahead of its earnings announcement. The company, which said this quarter it foresees a $34 billion market for unified communications and collaboration solutions, highlighted the launches of a new IP phone and Version 7.0 of its Unified Videoconferencing product as its key plays to capture share in this market.

We'll be tuned in on Wednesday to hear Cisco's results around its communications portfolio. Has the network giant been hit hard by the recession, forcing it to tout product launches prior to the earnings announcement? Or is it eating up share in the unified communications and telephony market as notable competitors stumble
