Skype adopts H.264 video format for iPhone app
The march of "Skype Everywhere" continues. The company has announced that it will be adopting the H.264 video format on iOS which will allow the video chat service's iPhone users to communicate with other devices.
Until now, iPhone Skypers were limited to chatting only with other iPhone users when taking advantage of video calling. The formats were not compatible with other devices, thus limiting the number of people an iPhone user could chat with on the move. Adding the H.264 format means that iPhone Skypers will now be able to connect to their family and friends using interconnected TVs from Samsung and Panasonic as well as computers and other connected devices like Blue-ray players.
