Skype SDK threatens to put the VoIP app everywhere
The only company other than Skype that I can think of that's been just about as subtle with its quest to be everywhere is Google. And today Skype is taking another step to get its VoIP app in so many places that just as almost everyone 'googles' things these days, we may one day all be using the term 'skyping' much more often.
Skype just released its SkypeKit software development kit for download. It gives programmers everything they need to put Skype components for voice or video calling into a wide variety of chipsets, operating systems, and audio/video devices. The SDK allows developers to put Skype on anything that is Internet connected with an underlying Linux operating system (and soon Windows and Mac OS).
The possibilities could be endless as to where we see Skype pop up in the future. Unfortunately, SkypeKit is actually still in a Beta test where developers can ask for an invite to get started.
