Skype sets new record with 30 million concurrent online users

Tools

Despite a December outage that was the largest in the history of the company, VoIP provider Skype continues to amass new users and to prove the platform's scalability and robustness.

Monday evening, Skype posted on its blog that it had passed a new milestone, with some 30 million people online on Skype concurrently.

Skype has been recording steady growth and usage, reporting 27 million concurrent users in January. In an SEC filing earlier this month, the company reported it had 663 million users, a substantial increase over the 474 million users it reported in 2010.
