Skype's SILK superwideband-supporting partners
Skype has released a list of vendors who have announced support for its super-duper, superwideband voice codec SILK. The list below only includes those partners who have allowed Skype to use their names publicly at this point in time; i.e. there are likely others who are currently looking at and/or working with SILK to incorporate into their products and services.
Component-level hardware/software
ARM (Silicon)
GIPS (Software)
Hellosoft (Software)
On2 (Transcoding solutions/codecs)
TeCom (Hardware OEM)
Trinity Convergence (Software)
Applications level hardware and software
Digium (IP PBX/open source telephony platform)
Lifesize (HD video conferencing hardware)
Consumer hardware
Asus (phones, video phones, computers)
Plantronics (headsets)
Business services
HiDef Conferencing (audio conferencing service)
Of course, the icing on the cake for SILK would be its adoption/blessing by Cisco, Microsoft and Polycom. Cisco shouldn't have too much of a problem in adopting SILK; it already uses some open source code in its Linksys line of routers. Microsoft is a more interesting scenario and is (no doubt) rushing to unveil its own in-house-but-proprietary "better" solution.
