Sonus conducts yet another round of layoffs
Sonus announced late last week that it will dismiss about 93 people, or about 10 percent of its workforce, in what the company says is the last phase of its ongoing restructuring process. This latest round of layoffs will enable Sonus to incur restructuring charges of approximately $1.4 million to $1.9 million before taxes in the third quarter of fiscal 2009. Sonus believes this latest round of job cuts, which it says will be finished in the third quarter, will save it between $9.4 million to $10.3 million.
Sonus says the cuts are the last part of an ongoing company restructuring process that began in March 2008. Previously, Sonus cut 60 jobs in March, 40 in January and 50 in December. Collectively, these job cuts will enable Sonus to save $19.7 million to $21.6 million annually.
