Sony Bravia update gives users access to Skype video calling on TVs

Tools

Sony's Bravia TVs and Blu-ray payers have joined the list of connected devices that allow users to make voice and, now, video calls using Skype's free VoIP service.  Users can make free voice and video calls to anywhere in the world, as long as the TV is connected to the Internet, equipped with a microphone accessory and a Web camera. The service went live on Bravia after a firmware update was released that also gives users access to their Facebook and Twitter accounts. A report earlier this month said more than 3 billion connected devices will ship globally through 2016, about 1 billion stationary devices like connected TV's and Blu-ray players are expected to be in homes by 2015.
