Speakeasy goes heavy on the java
Speakeasy has taken java to another level and more literally than one would think. The VoIP service provider is giving a Starbucks' gift card to business users who fax in their phone bill. Speakeasy plans to then do a cost comparison to show how much money can be saved by switching to VoIP.
Hawking "cut your phone bill--not your morning coffee," Speakeasy's apparent goal is to show business folks that the money they save on VoIP can be better spent on coffee at the local Starbucks. There might be a little change left over for a big tip after that, too, since the company claims it can save up to 45 percent off a traditional phone bill.
Bruce Chatterly, Speakeasy's CEO, was quoted in a press release reasoning, "what they (business people) don't realize is how much money they could save just by switching to voice-over-IP services--up to 45 percent--which would allow them to keep the little things that matter."
