Spirent tests IMS

Spirent unveiled an IMS Test System to encompass all components of an IMS network from a wireline and wireless perspective. According to Yankee Group senior industry analyst Brian Partridge, one of the early challenges for IMS is the lack of end-to-end testing solutions. The ability to transfer testing scenarios and methodologies from a lab environment to the field will help drive IMS development into the fast lane. The solution simulates real world traffic models to evaluate wireless core packet data networks and conducts scalability, performance, interoperability and quality tests for voice and video over IP prior to deployment and is targeted toward service providers and system developers.

PLUS: I met with Tektronix at CTIA. The company, too, is currently working on an IMS testing solution and anticipates to have it ready by the end of this year.
