SPOTLIGHT: Can Vonage do it?

Vonage's Q3 numbers pleased the market last week and the stock went north till Vonage got caught in the broader market pessimism. There was a sentiment among commentators that maybe, just maybe, Vonage was through the worst of its patent nightmares. At the same time the VoIP pure play was shifting from a customer acquisition at any price strategy, to a more balanced growth profile which might see it go cash positive some time next year. The company was also working hard at ensuring the service in all its facets worked. Whether Vonage's bond holders are as sympathetic when it comes to debt refinancing next year is to be seen. Vonage's discipline and focus on its operations in the remains of Q4 will almost certainly determine if it survives or is gobbled up by a telco.
