Spotlight: CIOs at large enterprises enjoy healthy 6 percent growth in salary

Janco salary survey finds average IT compensation up only 1.98 percent

Chief information officers (CIOs) at larger enterprises saw their base salaries increase by a healthy 6 percent in 2012, reaching $182,210, according to data compiled by Janco Associates. CIOs at mid-sized enterprises received a more modest 1.6 percent increase in their base salary last year, reaching $165,820. The median CIO tenure has increased from 4 years and 2 months to 4 years and 3 months, a primary driver of increased compensation.
