SPOTLIGHT: Grameenphone Fined for Illegal VoIP

The largest mobile phone operator in Bangladesh will be fined around $3.64 million for illegal call termination. This is the second time this year Grameenphone has been fined for using VoIP and the largest fine to date charged against a phone company operating in the country; earlier in the year, the firm was fined $2.45 million--the second highest fine. Grameenphone officials may be fired after the payments are made to the government.
