Spotlight: Oracle agrees to buy Acme Packet for $1.7 billion

The enterprise software behemoth Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) has agreed to buy Acme Packet (Nasdaq: APKT), a provider of session border controllers and other IP-based network products, for $29.25 per share, or a total of $1.7 billion, net of Acme Packet's cash. Oracle said it plans to incorporate Acme Packet into its Oracle Communications portfolio.
