SPOTLIGHT: Skype never stops moving

Tools

What's that sound on the window? The rain of Skype and Skype-related announcements and releases coming down this week, ranging from a new Windows Mobile version, to new executives, to glomming Skype gateways.

Skype Windows for Mobile Beta 2.5 was launched on Tuesday, and features improved sound quality, better stability (i.e. doesn't crash so much) and "a more familiar user interface."

Thursday, Skype announced new CTO Daniel Berg and Chief Strategy Officer Christopher Dean. Berg will oversee a global team of more than 300 people involved in developing software, while Dean will focus on Skype's strategy, including the development of partnerships and strategic alliances.

Finally, frequent blogger Andy Abramson picks up that Hong Kong telco 28TEL has launched its "Mobile 2 Skype" service, allowing 28TEL users to call online users directly through their mobile phones and claims to be the first service of its type (not so sure) to be launched worldwide. Seems like there are lots of "To Skype" gateways floating around these days.
