The hype over the new 3Skypephone may have been premature, but the day is fast coming when VoIP mobile calls will be widely available. The only delay is getting enough operators to support the SIP protocol VoIP uses. Already there are a number of start ups offering free mobile calls for SIP to Sip phones and the latest to announce is Swedish based, Challenger. Not all calls are free, but as the number of mobile VoIP products grow the current mobile operators will need to offering SIP to SIP unlimited calls for a fixed price or face massive churn from the price sensitive segments of their user base.
