Sprint, Tata partner for telepresence

Tools

Sprint (NYSE:S) and India's Tata Communications (NYSE:TCL) have forged a telepresence partnership, the latest example of service providers looking to boost the appeal and broaden the availability of telepresence services by teaming up with other carriers.

Sprint's telepresence customers will be able to connect to Tata's Global Meeting Exchange network, which includes video conferencing rooms from other carriers Tata has partnered with, while customers of the Indian carrier will be able to connect to telepresence rooms on Sprint's global MPLS network. The partnership, which comes just a week after Tata announced a similar agreement with Verizon Communications, should promote broader usage of the technology for international business applications.
