AT&T adds encryption to telepresence offering

Tools

AT&T announced it improved the security of its managed telepresence offering by adding encryption functions between Cisco TelePresence endpoints. AT&T also added Lotus Notes support, video sharing and more conference control options for participants.

The additional encryption expands the usefulness of the system, as sensitive meetings can now take place without incurring travel costs, the carrier said.

AT&T's hosted telepresence service includes monitoring and management of equipment and a remote help desk service, and runs over AT&T's VPN.
