T-Mobile makes Facebook friends with free VoIP service Bobsled by T-Mobile'
Looking to establish a toehold in the burgeoning social media space, T-Mobile this week debuted Bobsled by T-Mobile, which allows Facebook's estimated 500 million users to make free VoIP calls and leave voice messages to other Facebookers.
The Bobsled app is downloadable in a couple of steps, installs quickly and integrates with your friend list seamlessy. Friends who are online appear -- as usual - in your chat window. You can call them by simply clicking on the phone icon by their name. The friends you call don't need the Bobsled app to answer your calls and chat, or to listen to your voice messages.
T-Mobile said Bobsled helps to quickly position it as a provider of cloud-based communications services over the Internet. And, it said, it plans to continue expanding the functionality of the service, adding video chat and access to other dvices, like smartphones and tables, down the road.
