AT&T offer Cisco Telepresence interoperability solution

Tools

Hello interoperability. Today AT&T revealed a network-based videoconferencing bridging solution allowing customers to use Cisco TelePresence to hold inter-company telepresence sessions with both standard- and high-def video equipment from multiple vendors.

AT&T claims the solution is the first of its kind--at least in the context in which they are using it. The solution will go far to increase the  number of available endpoints that can join telepresence or videoconferencing calls meaning that a greater number of customers, partners and suppliers using videoconferencing equipment from Polycom, LifeSize and Tandberg can all join in.

"As the first provider with a Cisco license for inter-company interoperability and the first to offer exchange-based inter-company interoperability with Cisco TelePresenceTM, AT&T marks another major milestone in Cisco's mission to change the way people communicate and collaborate," said Mark Weidick, vice president and general manager, TelePresence Exchange Business Unit, Cisco in a release.
