TalQer consumer VoIP goes live

Tools

Consumer VoIP carrier TalQer finally launched late last week. The service, from Vozin Communications, can act either as a stand-alone utility or as a plug-in to Google Talk and Skype. The service touches all the usual bases (though for now it is Windows-only), and allows customers to put a TalQer button within Skype and Google Talk windows and use those address books. So why use it? Price and standards. TalQer is SIP-based, so it will work with SIP phones and Asterisk. And at 1.5 cents per minute to 22 countries, it's priced lower than SkypeOut. Because it's U.S.-based instead of Europe, TalQer isn't subject to VAT.
