Transcend United merges with LiquidSpoke

Two unified communications resellers, Transcend United Technologies and LiquidSpoke, announced they are merging in what looks to be the latest evidence of gradual consolidation in the UC market. The combined company will operate under the Transcend name, and will have reseller arrangements with major vendors, including Cisco, Avaya, Nortel, ShoreTel, Riverbed, LifeSize and others.

Transcend said it gains greater market exposure in the Northeast, as well as managed service capabilities that contribute to an overall portfolio that includes service desk, VoIP, wireless, WAN optimization, videoconferencing and back-up/ recovery services.

All LiquidSpoke principals and executive management are joining the Transcend in key roles, and the company plans to relocate its headquarters and Pennsylvania sales operations to LiquidSpoke's current Wayne, Penn., location. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The deal comes not long after another UC-themed deal, as West Corporation acquired Smoothstone IP Communications.
