U.K. wVoIP startups take on cellcos

Tools

If you don't think the wireless VoIP is going to cause trouble for cellcos, you need to pay attention to the U.K. Just this week, three wVoIP services have launched over there: Rok viper, AQL, and Mobiboo. Rok's offering free mobile-to-mobile service if both ends are using their software, which requires Bluetooth and not WiFi (No, I don't understand it yet, either). AQL requires a Nokia E series phone to use their free trial. Mobiboo uses WiFi and requires a specialized phone. None of them is likely to be a cell killer, but all of them have the potential to be part of the million cuts that threaten to bleed the cellular industry.
