U.S. Congress to adopt Skype, OoVoo
Members of the U.S. Congress are now allowed to use Skype and OoVoo VoIP and video chat to participate in meetings, after the legislative body approved usage of the technology as a way of improving efficiency and reducing travel commitments for Senate and House members.
The move is being seen as an example of the government being uncharacteristically aggressive in adopting new technology, though if many millions of people around the world already use it, that might mitigate any claims of being a technology adventurer.
Meanwhile, I'm all in favor of more efficient, more effective government, but it is difficult not to read about this development and not think of how it might have been used by former Congressman Anthony Weiner.
