Verizon Business, AT&T in new VoIP initiatives

There's an old business school maxim that it's better to eat your own lunch than to have a competitor eat it for you. Telcos have been a little slow to get that message, but there are signs they're getting smart. Verizon Business is putting in place a service-level agreement for its VPN-based VoIP service, guaranteeing a MOS score of 4.0. And AT&T, which has been slow about promoting its CallVantage VoIP service since its 2005 acquisition by SBC, is starting to test the waters again. The company is testing a double-play offering with existing AT&T Wireless customers in Portand, OR and in central New Jersey.
