Verizon Business revs inch up in Q2

Tools

Despite slowing enterprise spending due to the recessionary climate, Verizon Business managed to see a 3 percent year-over-year revenue increase for the second quarter. Verizon Business, which provides business services such as managed communication services, Ethernet and security solutions, generated $1.5 billion in revenue for the quarter.

"We're seeing continued strong global demand for our integrated solutions and professional services and we continue to transform our business to give customers the higher-value services they are seeking to advance their businesses," Fran Shammo, president of Verizon Business, said in a release.

Verizon Business also highlighted the launch of mid-market communications services, Burstable Enterprise Shared Trunks, and Hosted IP Centrex upgrades during the quarter as signs of its commitment to invest in its network offerings, despite the macroeconomic situation. Toward the end of the quarter, Verizon Business also announced a new cloud services offering, which may provide a lift to the unit's third-quarter earnings.
