Videoconferencing firm LifeSize names Buechler CEO

Videoconferencing company LifeSize has named Colin Buechler, its former SVP of sales and a one-time executive at Dell, its new CEO. He'll take over from Craig Malloy, who has been at the helm of the Logitech (Nasdaq: LOGI) subsidiary for the past nine years.

Malloy, who co-founded LifeSize in 2003, stayed on as CEO after LifeSize was acquired by Logitech in December 2009. Malloy will become vice chairman.

Buechler has been with LifeSize since 2007 and has co-developed the product roadmap. He has helped the company gain strong year-over-year sales growth as LifeSize has doubled its workforce to more than 500 employees.

"Every growing company comes to an inflection point and LifeSize is there now," said Guerrino De Luca, Logitech chairman of the board, acting president and CEO. "Colin Buechler's experience growing the LifeSize business as the leader of sales and marketing, along with his background in strategy and building larger businesses, is what LifeSize needs."

Buechler, who also becomes a Logitech senior vice president in the move, cited LifeSize's "relentless innovation" as a force behind the company's growth, adding: "My goal is to make visual communication a part of everyday business collaboration."

LifeSize has been aggressive in the videoconferencing space, recently acquiring Italian firm Mirial, making a cloud offering available and announcing support for a number of mobile devices.
