Vidtel channel program takes video-conferencing to SMEs
Videophone pioneer Vidtel is rolling out a new channel program that gives small and medium enterprises an affordable solution to support video conferences covering an array of technologies.
The company's cloud-based MeetMe conferencing service accommodates participants on room-based videoconferencing systems from vendors like Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO), Alcatel-Lucent's (NYSE: ALU) LifeSize and Polycom (Nasdaq: PLCM), as well as other participants using Skype and Google Talk on PCs, tablets and smartphones.
The channel program enables AV integrators, VoIP providers, managed service providers and other VARs to begin offering cost-efficient and predictably priced hosted, any-to-any videoconferencing services.
The cloud-based platform requires no upfront video conferencing infrastructure and allows SMEs to leverage existing telepresence investments to implement video throughout their organizations. It will initially be available in North America, with expansion planned for EMEA and APAC.
"With MeetMe, VARs now can target a wide variety of emerging opportunities, including price-sensitive SMEs that want to leverage their existing endpoints, PCs, tablets and smartphones for enterprise-quality video conferencing," said Scott Wharton, Vidtel CEO.
