Vidyo challenges Polycom, Cisco with $750 desktop videoconferencing
Orlando, Fla.-- Vidyo unveiled this week a number of new videoconferencing products at the Gartner Symposium ITxpo aimed at challenging big players such as Polycom (Nasdaq: PLCM) and Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO). Vidyo launched
- a $750 software-based executive desktop videoconferencing system
- a browser-based telepresence product that offers up to 1440p capability
- next-generation HEVC (H.265) codec design that will require half the bit rate of the previous codec (H.264)
- and an open standards-based multi-protocol conferencing platform
"Companies can save money on infrastructure, endpoints, and networking" by deploying Vidyo's software-based video conferencing products, company co-founder and CEO Ofer Shapiro told FierceEnterpriseCommunications. Read more
