VoiceCon: Verizon Business offers Cisco TelePresence and Microsoft UC
VoiceCon has begun and announcements are flooding in from companies about new partnerships. Verizon announced two such moves with some big players in the Unified Communications (UC) field and in telepresence.
First off, we have Verizon Business teaming with Cisco to offer a new managed service called Verizon Immersive Conferencing Service. The offering will expand Verizon's existing UC portfolio with the video meetings using two Verizon Business Exchanges, which run on Verizon's Private IP network infrastructure. If an interruption occurs, the system switches to the other exchange to provide seamless presence.
In addition to the Cisco TelePresence offering, Verizon has also announced an advancement in their partnership with Microsoft. They are now offering businesses that use Microsoft unified communications software for voice calling, conferencing, instant messaging and user availability to combine those functions with Verizon's VoIP systems and its cost management and calling capabilities. Verizon has also been named a Microsoft SIP trunking partner with their service Verizon IP Trunking which offers advanced telephony and real-time UC desktop apps for Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 over Verizon's IP network.
