VoIP gives life to teleconnects

Most of the voice network wranglers we talk to here at FierceVoIP will freely tell a nosy reporter that they're pretty much resigned to IT departments winding up with responsibility for the phones. The funny thing is, word hasn't quite filtered down to the IT departments. Read some of the trade magazines for the VAR industry, and you'll see a lot of resellers complaining that companies go elsewhere for their phones--not to their friendly networking VAR. Does that mean that there are still legs for the telephony interconnect business? Are the IT folks uncertain enough about how to do voice that they don't quite trust their datacom partners? We don't know, exactly. But as we sniff the wind, we think that that the smart teleconnects are being proactive with enterprise managers and are using voice networking as a way through the IT door.
